Axia Corporate property have been appointed to market and sell the renowned Boab Inn in the Kimberley townsite of Derby, under instructions from the Agents for the Mortgagee in Possession.

Established in 1966 the business has built strong brand recognition with a wide spectrum of patrons including local residents, transient mining and construction companies and the ever growing tourist traveller, as a place to visit or stay.  Prominently located on the main road into Derby the property of 7,608 square metres is bounded by Loch and Delewarr Streets, which provide multiple access and service points to the various areas of operation.

The hotel which is licenced for 400 people across the bar and dining areas boasts public and lounge bars, drive through bottle shop, beer garden, a motel reception area and offices as well as a 100 seat restaurant and commercial kitchen. The motel offers a variety of accommodation options through the 49 rooms. The BBQ and swimming pool area and ample parking areas compliment the accommodation offering.

Selling agents, John Garland and Wayne Mitsikas of Axia, commented that enquiry has been strong for this iconic Kimberley business with interest coming surprisingly from interstate parties as well the traditional regional and Perth based operators and investors. Axia was recently involved in the successful sale of the Karratha Tavern and believe there is renewed interest in good cash flow businesses in the states regions. John Garland said that hotels and accommodation businesses that returned to bottom line management based on existing population and tourist numbers should succeed where in the past extreme purchase prices had been paid based on short term population elements due to construction projects or blue sky belief in unrealistic town growth projections.
